A Better Campus: How the Business Leadership team made an impact.

Updated: Dec 13, 2021

The business leadership team is comprised of a group of individuals that were selected by professors in order to make an impact on campus. This semester was the very first for this organization and although we had a rocky start, we were able to create an amazing event.

The projects that the group decided to conquer this semester were seemingly simple but would benefit the college of business as a whole. We decided to complete a series of career readiness events (see portfolio for flyer) and to get our business clubs back running.

We were able to create a multiple part series of career readiness events. We started these seminars with a resume review section in which students brought in their resumes in order to receive credible feedback from our professionals. Next, I talked to the group about professional dress and the best ways to impress your prospective employer with your attire. After the dress for success seminar, we had a group called Perfectly Polished come in and talk about professional etiquette. Finally, we had mock interviews with the College of Business advisory board (which is comprised of business owners in Americus, GA). Overall, this event was a success and provided students with the knowledge and experience they need to be successful in the business world.

Personally, I helped the marketing club get official again by helping with the paperwork and getting our meetings set up. We were able to become 'legal' on campus and vote for official officers. I am currently serving as the SGA representative of the marketing club and vote on legislation on behalf of the club.

Overall, this was a successful semester that has established this team and allowed the team to continue to expand. Going forward we wish to create a large job fair that many schools can attend as well as promoting more on campus activities.
